Assemblyman Tim Donnelly, first elected to represent the 59th Assembly District in November 2010, has represented the 33rd Assembly District since December 2012.
The third oldest of 14, Tim was born in Atlanta, Georgia; he made his way to California to attend the University of California, Irvine in 1989. Working several jobs to pay his way, Tim earned his B. A. in English. After college he went to work for his father in the small family business, supplying parts to plastics manufacturers. After five years, he started his own small business, providing solutions to his customer's manufacturing problems. Having twenty years' experience on the front lines of manufacturing, Tim brings a unique understanding of the problems facing one of the most important sectors in our economy.
In 2005, Tim answered the call of his country, and joined the fight to secure our borders. As the founder of the largest Minuteman chapter in California, he leveraged the media to bring national attention to the Federal government's failure to enforce the border. Since then, Congress voted against amnesty, to improve the border fence and double the Border Patrol presence. The American public is acutely aware of the drug war, which has claimed over 40,000 lives in 4 years, and the violence that has spilled over the border into California.
In the Legislature, Tim has earned the reputation of a conservative who holds steadfast to his beliefs: fighting illegal immigration, defending public safety, removing restrictions on business growth, and protecting the taxpayers' pocketbooks. Tim’s unwavering voting record to uphold constitutional rights has earned him perfect scores from organizations like Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association, National Rifle Association and California Pro-Life Council. In 2013, Tim also received a perfect score from the California Chamber of Commerce.
In 2012, 59% of the voters in his district re-elected Tim to represent them in Sacramento. Tim serves as Vice Chair of the Committee on Elections and Redistricting. He also serves on the Appropriations Committee, Environmental Safety and Toxic Materials Committee and Joint Legislative Audit Committee.
He is honored to represent the communities of Adelanto, Apple Valley, Baker, Barstow, Big Bear City, Big Bear Lake, Big River, Crestline, Fort Irwin, Hesperia, Johnson Valley, Lake Arrowhead, Lenwood, Lucerne Valley, Needles, Phelan, Running Springs, Silver Lakes, Trona, Twentynine Palms Base, Twin Peaks and Victorville. Tim is blessed to live in the scenic San Bernardino Mountains with his wonderful wife, Rowena, five sons, and one grandson.
