Conform Prevailing Wage Rate to Federal Level

Currently, contractors in California are required to pay state-mandated construction wage rates ("prevailing wage") to workers engaged in various occupations related to public works construction.

The current California prevailing wage project cost threshold of $1,000 has been in place for nearly fifty years, with no consideration to inflation.

AB 1958 increases a project cost threshold for prevailing wage from $1,000 to $2,000, matching the federal Davis-Bacon rate, and fixes the rate moving forward to the California Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers.
