Letter to Governor Brown Opposing his delay in Opening of the Redding and Fresno Veterans Homes
6/19/2013
Governor Jerry Brown
c/o State Capitol, Suite 1173
Sacramento, CA 95814
Dear Governor Brown:
oppose the proposed cuts to the Redding and Fresno Veterans Homes included in the 2012-13 State Budget.
If your proposed budget is enacted, these Veterans Homes will sit vacant until January 2014. This would delay services to military veterans in Redding, Fresno and the surrounding areas, who have served our country risking even their own lives. California must keep its promise to these men and women and restore crucial funding to these homes.
Furthermore, these Veterans Homes would provide permanent jobs and stimulate the economy, and I don’t think we should sacrifice and delay these much-needed outcomes, which would also jeopardize promised federal funding.
These are tough financial times, and we have all been making sacrifices, but let’s not sacrifice our veterans when making budget decisions in California.
For these reasons, I oppose the proposed cuts to the opening of the Redding and Fresno Veterans Homes.
Sincerely,
